Depression crosses Orissa coast, to weaken gradually
Bhubaneswar, Sep 29 (UNI) The depression over North West Bay and adjoining central Bay of Bengal crossed Orissa coast close to Gopalpur by this evening.
The system is likely to move in a west-north-westerly direction and weaken gradually, Met office sources here said.
The depression caused rains at many places in Coastal and South Orissa dampening the puja spirit. However, a clear sky in the evening brought much respite to the puje revelers across the state.
Weather office predicted likely Rain and thundershower at many places over Orissa and heavy to very heavy rain at a few places during next 12 hours under the impact of depresseion.
The authorities, however, hoisted the Local Cautionary Signal number three at Gopalpur, Puri, Paradip and Chandbali ports and advised the fishermen not to venture into the open sea.
Squally weather with wind speed reaching between 50 to 60 kmph is likely to prevail along and off Orissa coast, while the sea condition will be rough to very rough along and off Orissa Coast during the next 24 hours, Met sources said.
