Congress demands CBI inquiry into arms theft

Patna, Sep 29 (UNI) The Bihar Congress today demanded CBI inquiry into the theft of firearms from armoury at Muzaffarpur and into the theft of Rs 22 lakh from a post office at Madhubani.

Chief spokesman of the state Congress Prem Chandra Mishra alleged the "poor" law and order situation in Bihar could be gauged from the fact that sophisticated firearms like AK-47 rifles were stolen from the armoury.

He said the arrested in connection with cash stolen from the post office at Madhubani were policemen, who were deputed there for providing the security cover.

All these incidents could not have happened without the connivance of the government personnel, he alleged saying only the CBI could bring them to the books for dereliction of duties.
