Centre to spend Rs 23,000cr on national e-governance prog

Chandigarh, Sep 29 (UNI) The Union Government would spend Rs 23,000 crore on the implementation of National e-Governance programme in the years to come even as it sets up one lakh Common Services Centres all across the country.

Disclosing this, here today Mr M Moni, Deputy Director of National Informatics Centre (NIC) pointed out the need of availability of government to citizen situation centric applications in the local languages to allow penetration of the Internet to villages.

In order to strengthen the e-governance application, the government had set up five working groups headed by Mr Moni. The working groups consists of members drawn from academic, industry, government, public and private sector.
