Bus plunges into river; 14 killed

Sidhi, MP, Sep 29 (UNI) At least 14 people were killed and 45 wounded when a private bus plunged into the Kachni river after flipping off a bridge near Baithan in Sidhi district of Madhya Pradesh today.

Police said 14 bodies, including two of women and as many of children, were recovered and a search operation for others was in progress.

The accident occurred about 100 km from the district town at around 1230 hrs. The bus was plying on Baithan-Mada route and has remained partially submerged.

The injured have been taken to the government hospital at Baithan, the police added.

The District Collector and other senior officials have rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation.
