Bomb Hoax at HPCL

Chennai, Sep 29 (UNI) Security personnel and other staff members of the local depot of the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) at Tondiyarpet were on tenterhooks here today following a bomb threat call.

Police said, Mr Srinivasan Deputy General Manager HPCL Mumbai came here for inspection and went to the depot in a hired taxi. Soon after, the official got into the depot, an anonymous caller informed the telephone operator of the depot that a bomb had been planted in the car in which the official was travelling and it might go off at any moment.

In turn, the matter was informed to the police. They rushed to the spot with bomb squad and conducted a thorough search on the car.

Nothing was found and the call turned to be hoax, police added.
