BMS to launch awarness programme against SEZs/EPZs

New Delhi, Sept 29 (UNI) Opposing the creation of Special Economic Zones and Special Promotion Zones, Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh today resolved to undertake a countrywide awarness programme to expose the government on the issue.

As on date 162 SEZs were announced and 200 waiting for sanction.

The basic concession of exemption to the manufacturer/service units from labour laws, in these SEZs/EPZs had created a bypass and the scheme of things was meant to circumvent labout laws, a statement said.

Government was committing a blunder by enticing the corporate world, it added.

''The SEZs/EPZs have started new era of torture and exploitation for workers. This needs to be retaliated lock stck and barrel.'' Saying creation of SEZs/EPZs should be immediately stopped, BMS resolved to undertake countrywide awarness programme from November 13 to 20, it further said.
