Bhagat Singh's kin shows willingness for Congress tickets

Ferozepur, Sep 29 (UNI) The kin of Shaheed Bhagat Singh have expressed their willingness to contest the coming Punjab Assembly elections on Congress tickets from Ferozepur and Nawanshahar.

In a letter jointly written to Congress president Ms Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, the martyr's nephew Babar Singh, his wife Surinder Kaur and son Yadvinder Singh have asked for the party tickets from Ferozepur (City) and Nawanshahar assembly constituencies.

Confirming this to UNI here today, Mr Babar Singh said they wanted to devote their lives for the welfare of their countrymen and, thus, they were keen on contesting the elections.

They said that they expected Punjab Chief Minsiter Capt Amarinder Singh and the Pradesh Congress chief S S Dullo to argue their case in the Congress high command to help them to get tickets.

''The priority is to contest the election from Ferozepur, the land of the martyrs,'' Mr Babar Singh said.

He said the family members would soon meet the chief minister and Mr Dullo in this regard.
