BA to detail pension deficit Friday: Sources

London, Sep 29: British Airways plans to announce a new actuarial valuation on its pension deficit after meeting with unions today, sources familiar with the situation told Reuters.

''There is a meeting going on and we hope to get the new actuarial valuation,'' one source told Reuters. A second source said an announcement was scheduled later today.

A spokeswoman for the Transport&General Workers Union confirmed the airline was meeting unions today but did not expect to finalise a deal to reduce the deficit this week.

The new actuarial valuation is estimated to be between 1.5 billion pounds (2.81 billion dollar) and 1.8 billion pounds, sources familiar with the situation have told Reuters.
