Air Deccan ties up with Lufthansa Technik for MRO operations
Mumbai, Sep 29 (UNI) Air Deccan today announced entering into an agreement with Lufthansa Technik, the leading provider for maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) of aircraft, to support its fleet of 14 Airbus planes.
The contract is valued at more than 150 million dollars (about Rs 690 crore).
Over the next 10 years, Lufthansa Technik and its Indian subsidiary One Stop Airline MRO Support will independently serve the fleet of all together 60 Airbus A320 aircraft via a total component support with provision of components at the carrier's hub in Bangalore.
The German company will set up a regional pool of spares in India due to increasing demand for Airbus rotables and consumables.
''Air Deccan is all set to utilise Lufthansa Technik as one-stop-shop for its entire A320 spares requirement, including repair of the removed discrepant components,'' said the low-cost airline's chief operating officer Warwick Brady.
Added Mr Johannes Bussman, vice-president for Lufthansa Technik's marketing and sales division: ''India shows one of the most ambitious patterns of growth and we're keen to even further support this market with our products and services.'' Air Deccan covers 55 airports across the country with 270 flights a day.
