Western Railway comes down heavily on ticketless travel
Mumbai, Sep 27 (UNI) Western Railway today announced that it's intensified drive against ticketless travel, including unbooked luggage last month, has resulting in the recovery of penalties to the tune of Rs 1.86 lakh.
During the month of August 2006, a total number of 93,734 cases of ticketless travel, including unbooked luggage were detected, which led to a recovery of Rs 1.86 lakhs, a release informed.
Similarly, 313 cases of illegal transfer of reserved tickets were detected and an amount of Rs 2,68,610 was realised. 135 checks were conducted against touts and other elements, and 185 persons were apprehended. An amount of Rs 21,730 was recovered from them, the release added.
