Veteran journalist K S Ramanathan passes away
Chennai, Sep 27 (UNI) Former Press Advisor to Prime Minister and Veteran journalist K S Ramanathan, who had extensively covered the visits of Mahatma Gandhi during the pre-independence period, died here today following a heart attack.
He was 85. He is survived by two sons and a daughter.
Starting his journalistic career as a reporter in the Chennai edition of the Indian Express in 1940s, Mr Ramanathan had widely covered the visits of the Father of the Nation and India's First Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.
He later joined the Information and Broadcasting Ministry and had served in AIR and PIB.
He had last served as the Press Advisor to the then Prime Minister Charan Singh in 1979.
