Supplementary Estimates approved in K'taka Assembly

Belgaum, Sep 26 (UNI) The Karnataka Lesistative Assembly has approved the Supplementary Estimates aggregating Rs 1408.89 crore today.

Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurppa, who is also the Finance Minister, tabled the supplementary estimates related to advance sanctioned from Contigency Fund to cover expenditure of ''New Service'' and other unforseen expenditure after the budget estimate 2006-07 was placed before the legislature on March 2006.

Of the total 1408.89 crore, a sum of Rs 447.7 crore is covered by the Central Assistance, Rs 1191.8 crore is covered by receipts and Rs 13.1 crore is covered by accounting adjustments. The net outgo of cash is Rs 12434.1 crore.

Mr Yeduruppa said additional Rs 540 crore had been provided for Swachcha Gramma Yojana and Rs 10 crore to give reward for STF personal who killed forest brigand Veerappan.

Speaking on the supplementary estimates, leader of the Opposition N Dharam Singh, senior member Malikarjun Kharge, Ramesh Kumar, A Krishnappa(all Congress), J C Mathuswamy(JD-U) and G V Sairam Reddy(CPM) criticized the management of finances by Mr Yediruappa.
