State-level wrestling competition from Nov 24 at Sonipat

Chandigarh, Sep 27 (UNI) The Haryana Sports and Youth Programme Department has decided to organise state level wrestling competition and Haryana Kesari and Kumar Dangal from November 24 to 26 at district Sonipat.

While stating this here today, a spokesman of the department said that the competition would be held for three categories of age group of 16 years, 18 years and senior age group. The age group would be considered according to the age of the contestant as on December 31, 2006.

He said that the Haryana Kumar title would be held for the wrestlers having weight from 62 kg to 74kg. For the Haryana Kesari title, the wrestlers having weight above 74 kg would be able to participate.

The winners of district level Wrestling Competition would only be entitled to participate in the state level competition and for the titles of Haryana Kesari and Kumar Dangal.

As many as 500 wrestlers would participate in the competition and the winners would be given cash prize of Rs 500, 300 and 200.

He said that for the title of Haryana Kumar and Haryana Kesari, only two wrestlers from each district would be allowed to participate.

The first second and third prize for the title of Haryana Kesari would be Rs 31,000, 21,000 and 11,000 respectively. Likewise for Haryana Kumar the cash prizes would be Rs 21,000, 11,000, 5000 for the wrestlers coming at first, second and third position respectively.
