State BJP is with Marathi-speaking people of Belgaum: Munde

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Sep 27 (UNI) Senior BJP leader Gopinath Munde today came out openly in support of the Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES)'s demand on the controversial Belgaum issue.

Replying to a specific question on the issue, the former Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister said, ''The State Unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is with the Marathi-speaking people of Belgaum.'' Almost 90 per cent of the people in Belgaum speak Marathi and the Maharashtra BJP is on their side, Mr Munde said while addressing a press conference here this evening.

Mr Munde's statement assumes significance since the BJP is sharing power in the coalition government headed by H D Kumarswamy in Karnataka.
