Ajmer, Sep 27 (UNI) A football lover and coach from Spain has begun an indefinite hunger strike in the holy city of Pushkar to get a playground registered in the name of his trust.

His friend, also a foreigner, is supporting his cause by joining him in the dharna.

John Manuel Rojas, a native of Spain and his friend Anthony have been teaching football to young boys from Pushkar and the surrounding villagers for the last four years. They are supposed to have trained around 200 youths and formed formidable football teams.

Rojas has recently formed a trust Wege Pojo Rojas Padila Trust and has also signed a Rs 40 lakh contract for four bigha land, which he hoped to convert into a football playground.

When he approached the sub-tehsil office in Pushkar for registration of the said land yesterday, he was told that no land can be registered in the name of a trust run by a foreigner, or any foreign organisation.

A disheartened Rojas has vowed to get the land registered in the name of his trust and has gone on indefinite hunger strike since yesterday outside the sub-tehsil office.

The district administration has informed the Embassy of Spain and the state government about the issue.
