Sonia arrives at Renigunta airport
Tirupati, Sep 27: UPA chairperson and Congress president Sonia Gandhi arrived at the Renigunta airport today by a special aircraft from New Delhi, amid unprecedented security.
After her arrival at 1030 hrs, Ms Gandhi, accompanied by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy immediately left for Kadapa by a helicopter.
Ms Gandhi during her hurricane five-hour visit to Kadapa, the native place of the Chief Minister in Rayalaseema district and Kurnool will inaugurate the state-of-art super speciality hospital Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) at Gutlampally on the outskirts of Kadapa town.
After the function, Ms Gandhi would address a public meeting at RIMS complex and unveil a statue of Rajiv Gandhi. She would release water from Brahma Sagar reservoir built under the Telugu Ganga Project (TGP) to facilitate irrigation of 50,000 acres before leaving for Kurnool.
In Kurnool, Ms Gandhi would declare open former Chief Minister Kotla Vijaya Bhasakara Reddy memorial park on the right bank of Hundri river and address a public meeting at STBC ground before flying back to Renigunta airport on her way to Delhi by a special aircraft.
