Sania beats Korean wild card, runs into Hingis again in Korea Open
Seoul, Sep 27 (UNI) Sania Mirza set up another duel with Swiss Miss Martina Hingis with a come-from-behind win against local wild card Lee Ye-Ra 3-6, 6-0, 6-0 in the first round of the 145,000 dollar Korea Open here today.
It needed her some goading as Sania overcame an opening set deficit to thrash the Korean wild card 3-6, 6-0, 6-0.
In another first round match, top seed Martina Hingis thrashed Dane qualifier Caroline Wozniacki 6-3, 6-2 to set up another encounter with Sania.
In their previous encounter in the semifinals of the Sunfeast Open in Kolkata last week, the Hyderabadi ace had lost to Hingis 0-6, 1-6.
Playing against the unheralded Korean, Sania was jolted out of her inertia as her opponent stunned the Indian by winning the first set.
That served a wake up call and Sania raised her game by a few notches. Her power-packed forehands were landing on the court again and winners flowed from her racquet as she decimated the Korean in the subsequent two sets, during which she didn't drop a single game.
