SAD to acquire Lahore house where Guru Arjan Dev was oppressed

New Delhi, Sep 27 (UNI) The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) is making efforts to acquire the house in Lahore where the fifth Sikh Guru, Arjan Dev was subjected to oppression, and plans to build a Gurudwara there, president of the SAD Delhi, Paramjit Singh Sarna said today.

''The house where Guru Arjan Dev Ji was subjected to opression and repression at Lahore has been identified. Efforts are on to acquire the house in order to build a Gurudwara with the help of the Pakistan Gurdwara Parbandhak committee,''Mr Sarna said in his address on the opening day of a two-day seminar on 'Guru Arjan Dev: Life Martrydom and Legacy' here.

Addressing the seminar, organized at the India Habitat centre by the Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management committee in observance of the Quatercentenary of the Guru, Mr Sarna said the 'kar sewa' of renovation and repair work of Gurudwara Ber Saheb at Sialkot and Gurudwara Tap Asthan near Rawalpindi in Pakistan would be undertaken very shortly.

He disclosed that the DSGMC would establish a Guru Arjan Dev Law college in Delhi from the next session.

The inaugural address at the seminar was given by Union Minister of State for Urban Development Ajay Maken while the kewynote address was delivered by former Vice Chancellor of the Guru Nanak Dev university J S Grewal. Delhi Education minister Arvinder Singh lovely was also among those who addressed the seminar.
