"Rudra", equipped to kill known and unknown viruses launched

Chennai, Sep 27 (UNI) Rudra Technologies Pvt Ltd, an innovative start-up based firm, today announced the launch of ''revolutionary intention based anti-virus software'', the first of its kind in the world.

Addressing mediapersons here, Rudra Technologies Managing Director N S Baskar claimed that Rudra was world's first intention based technology to kill and remove both known and unknown viruses, worms, spyware and any malicious software.

''The current two anti-virus technologies are not effective in addressing unknown viruses. Rudra, on the other hand, is built more on the philosophy behind the human system. Since Rudra does not depend on the legacy technologies, its much more effective against viruses and malware,'' Mr Baskar said.

Launched in 1990, the Signature based technology was the most primitive and widely used technology. It works by identifying the binary string, which was unique to each virus. However, this was effective only against known viruses.

On the other hand, Heuristic technology, launched in 1998 was based on the understanding of the behaviour or the modus operandi of the viruses. However, this technology was also not effective in challenging new viruses, Mr Baskar said.

''But Rudra offers holistic and complete protection against viruses, spyware or any other malware,'' he said adding even as the product was taking shape, it received tremendous response from across the globe.
