Rs 10 lakh distributed among 118 orphans in Kashmir
Srinagar, Sep 27 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir government has distributed about Rs 10 lakh among 118 children orphaned due to militancy-related incidents in Anantnag district, an official spokesman said today.
He said the amount was disbursed by District Development Commissioner Anantnag G A Peer under the National Foundation for Communal Harmony (NFCH) scheme.
The spokesman said various schemes were launched by the Centre and the state government for the welfare of the downtrodden and under privileged people.
As many as 10,259 beneficiaries had been covered under the old-age category while 4587 under physically challenged while 7599 benefitted under the national social assistance programme, he added.
