Puducherry Govt to purchase Rs 10 crore worth clothes: CM

Puducherry, Sep 27 (UNI) In a bid to ensure employment to the Handloom Weavers throughout the year, the Puducherry administration would purchase Rs ten crore worth sarees and dhotis from Pontex, Chief Minister N Rangasamy said here today.

Inaugurating the Pontex Handloom exhibition, in view of Diwali and other festials here, he said in the exhibition last year clothes worth Rs 1472 lakh were sold and this year's target was Rs 1580 lakh.

Mr Rangasamy said a special discount of 25 to 50 per cent would be given at the exhibition.

Pondicherry Municipal Chairperson Dr Sreedevi had also participated in the function.

Earlier, Mr Rangasamy declared open a 'Ponfab' showroom.
