Police officials jailed in ACB cases

Hyderabad, Sept 27 (UNI) The Principal Special Judge for ACB cases here today sentenced the Assistant Sub-inspector of Police and one constable of Kazipet police station in Warangal district to undergo rigorous imprisonment for one year each on bribery case.

The Judge also slapped a fine of Rs 300 on P Komaraiah(ASI) and Md Valiuddin(Constable) or in default to suffer fifteen days simple imprisonment each for the offences under various sections of Prevention of Corruption Act.

Earlier, they were trapped by the ACB officials in September 1999 when they accepted a bribe of Rs 300 from the complainant for doing an official favour, according to an ACB release here today.

The State Government had withheld the pension and gratuity permanently for the former Assistant Commerical Tax Officer Peddapuram in East Godavari district in full, following an enquiry conducted by the Tribunal for Disciplinary proceedings.

Earlier a case was registered against the official as he was trapped by the ACB when he accepted a bribe of Rs 1000 from a flour mill owner for doing an official favour.
