Jaipur, Sep 27 (UNI) Christian faithfuls in a church here today tasted police high-handedness when two policemen barged in demanding that their photographs and identification be sent to the police station for reported conversions.

Above 25-30 Christians were observing a fasting prayer in Bethel Church in Mansarovar at around 1300 hours when policemen disrupted the ceremony saying they have received a call about conversions being conducted at the church, Rev Vijay Paul, secretary of Jaipur Christian Fellowship told UNI.

Rev Vijay Paul clarified the ceremony was a two-day fasting prayer which began today and the faithfuls were praying peacefully with no conversion ceremony of any sort.

The church pastor Y Johan was not present at the time as he is away in Delhi. The police asked those present at the church to produce their photographs and identification including address at the police station.

According to the Mansarovar police station, they received a call about conversions being conducted in the church from local residents and that is why they decided to check on the matter.
