Madurai, Sep 27 (UNI) Nominations have been filed in all the four reserved panchayats, remaining headless for a decade, in the current edition of the civic polls.

The four village panchayats, Pappapatti, Keeripatti and Nattarmangalam in this district and Kottakachiyendal in adjoining Virudhunagar have not been de-reserved since no dalit President had completed a term in office in these civic bodies.

On the last day of filing of nominations today, candidates filed their papers for all the four village panchayats.

Nattarmangalam accounted for the highest number of seven nominations for the post of president followed by Pappapatti (4), Keeripatti (3) and Kottakachiyendal (2).

In respect of nominations for ward members too, Nattarmangalam retained the top position with 35 followed by Pappapatti (19), Keeripatti (11) and Kottakachiyendal (6).

In the Panchayati Raj elections, these four civic bodies have turned out to be the cynosure of all eyes.
