Musharraf to extend book proceeds towards poverty reduction

Islamabad, Sep 27 (UNI) Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf plans to donate part of his book proceeds for poverty alleviation and social uplift of the people of the country to whom he has dedicated his memoir, ''In the Line of Fire'', a media report said today.

''The President wants to establish a foundation for the benefit of the needy, especially women,'' Dawn newspaper reported.

The paper quoted him as saying, however, that it could take some time for the plan to materialise. Begum Musharraf may head the foundation.

In his opening remarks at the launch of the book yesterday, President Musharraf had said he started writing the book two years ago and noted his autobiography was his contribution to the history of this era.

''It is also of course my own story, a life where I look back and see the contours of an eventful, turbulent path with both luck and destiny playing leading roles.'' UNI XC KD ND1830
