Man attempts immolation outside Home Minister's residence

New Delhi, Sept 27 (UNI) A 35-year-old man today attempted immolation outside Home Minister Shivraj Patil's residence at Janpath in New Delhi.

However, the accused Mohinder Singh was arrested before he could make the attempt to set himself on fire at about 1500 hrs though he had come soaked in kerosene, said a senior police official.

''He has been cherged under Section 309, attempt to suicide.'' Mohinder is a bad character of Jehangirpuri in North-West Delhi and has 15 cases against him icluding killing his wife, the officer added.

Meanwhile, the accused said he was being harassed by the police and wanted to highlight his plight.
