IUML welcomes CBI probe into Marad violence
Malappuram, Sep 27 (UNI) Welcoming the Kerala government's decision to recommend a CBI probe into the Marad communal violence, the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) today said the party was against political violence in the state.
In the past, the party has sought a high level investigation into the violence that claimed nine lives at Marad beach here on May 2, 2003, IUML state president Panakkad Syed Mohammedali Shihab Thangal said in a statement here.
Denying involvement of local activists of the IUML in the violence as found by the Judicial Commission which probed the incident, he said, the one man panel had failed to substantiate its claim.
