Suicide car-bomb blast in the southern Afghan city

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan, Sep 27: A suicide car-bomb went off outside a police base in the southern Afghan city of Kandahar today, witnesses said, but there were no immediate reports of casualties.

Kandahar is a bastion of Taliban insurgents who have unleashed a series of attacks against Afghan and foreign forces this year.

Eighteen people were killed in a suicide bomb attack in the neighbouring province of Helmand yesterday.
