Home guard shot dead, 2 rifles, 50 cartridges snatched

Lucknow, Sep 27 (UNI) Unidentified assailants shot dead a home guard and decamped with two rifles and around 50 cartridges in Hatras district of Uttar Pradesh.

Acting on a tip-off about the presence of miscreants, cops rushed to the Sikandrabad area. But before they could act, the miscreants opened fire killing home guard Banwari Lal on the spot and injuring constable Ram Khiladi yesterday. The assailants fled with their rifles and 50 cartridges.

The injured constable was rushed to Aligarh Hospital.

A case has been registered and a manhunt is on to nab the accused.
