Health practitioners should work to control AIDs: Singpho

Itanagar, Sep 27 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh Minister for Health and Family Welfare C C Singpho has urged upon the medical practioners and health workers to control HIV/AIDS in the society.

Inaugurating the Anti-Retroviral Centre(ART) and Integrated Council and Testing Centre(ICTC) at the Naharlogun General Hospital here today, the Minister said that there were many central schemes for development of health sector.

''A lot of work would be done for effective functioning of the state health department,'' he added.

The Health Minister said the Arunachal Pradesh AIDS Control Society (APSACS) would control the disease.

Speaking on the occasion health secretary Tape Bagra said 73 AIDS/HIV positive cases have been detected in the state till the inception of APSACS in the year 1999.

Director of Health Service Dr P P Chaliha has expressed concern over the growing HIV/AIDS affected people in the state.

He said the health department would not be able to contain the dreaded menace which is a threat to the society.
