Globalisation opens new opportunities, says Lord Paul

Indore, Sep 27 (UNI) Allaying apprehensions about globalisation, London-based NRI Lord Swaraj Paul has said that India will continue to gain from globalisation as it opened new opportunities in the competitive market.

Speaking on ''India Inc on global stage'', organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry here last night, the Caparo Group Chairman said there was shortage of manpower in the world, but it was abundant in India.

''Globalisation provided an opportunity for competition and improving the quality. India Inc has taken giant strides in recent years and nothing can stop it from becoming global power'', he said, adding Indian IT industry had made its impact even in developed countries.

Lord Paul said India was the third biggest investor in England.

''I am cent percent Indian as also cent per cent British'', he added.

The NRI industrialist, who had proposed to invest in Madhya Pradesh, lamented that a sizeable section of children remained illiterate and did not have access to healthcare facilities. This situation has to be changed, he stressed.

Lord Paul. who was visiting Madhya Pradesh after three years, lauded the efforts made in recent years to attract industrialists.

Madhya Pradesh Commerce and Industry Minister Babulal Gaur, who was also present, said investment proposals to the tune of Rs one lakh crore had been received by the state.
