DPI severes ties with AIADMK, joins DPA
Chennai, Sep 27 (UNI) The Dalit Panthers of India (DPI) today severed its ties with the AIADMK and joined the DMK-led Democratic Progressive Alliance (DPA) for the coming local body elections in Tamil Nadu.
DPI General Secretary Thol Tirumavalvan called on Chief Minister and DMK President M Karunanidhi at DMK headquarters 'Anna Arivalayam' and formally joined the DPA to fight the civic polls scheduled to be held on October 13 and 15. He was accompanied by party legislator Ravikumar.
The DPI, which fought the May eight Assembly elections in alliance with the AIADMK-led front, has two legislators in the House.
