DLR suicide case ; Naveen orders disciplinary action

Bhubaneswar, Sep 27 (UNI) Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today ordered for disciplinary action against Works Secretary Abhaya Das and two other senior officials in connection with the suicide of DLR employee Babaji Mohapatra.

The action against Mr Das and others was taken following the submission of a probe report by State Home Secretary Tarun Kanti Mishra to the Chief Minister.

Unable to bear the humiliation from the Works Secretary, DLR employee Babaji Mohapatra, who was engaged in Mr Das' house had committed suicide on September 8 last.

His death caused a stir among the Class four and DLR employees, who had threatened to resort to agitation demanding action against Mr Das.

The employee was serving in the residence of Mr Das despite the Chief Minister's direction that no Class four employees would work in the residence of the officers in the state.

Official sources said besides, Mr Das, the Chief Minister had also directed that disciplinary action against the Rural Works (Bhubaneswar Division) Chief Engineer and the Executive Engineer.

Mr Patnaik had also ordered that the widow of the deceased DLR employee should be suitably rehabilitated as DLR employee.
