Compensation to flood victims before Diwali :Dr Kadam

Mumbai, Sept 27 (UNI) Maharashtra Rehabilitation Minister Dr Patangrao Kadam today declared that the compensation of Rs 627 crore would be given to the flood affected people in 31 districts of Maharashtra, before Diwali.

Talking to reporters, Dr Kadam said the government would give award a compensation of Rs 627 crore for the damage caused to agricultural products and houses in the recent floods which hit nearly all parts of Maharashtra during the monsoons.

Dr Kadam said Rs 473 crore would be given as compensation for the damage of crops like paddy, cotton, sugarcane and others.

He also said that the residents of over 45,000 houses which were damaged completely will receive a compensation of Rs 4,800 per house.

Besides, a total of Rs 153 crore would be given to the occupants of over five lakh houses, which were damaged partially, he added.
