Bihar government informs CBI about antique theft

Patna, Sep 27 (UNI) The Bihar government has informed the CBI about theft of 18 statues from Patna museum to foil the bid of criminals transporting the antiques to other parts of the country.

Inspector General(Headquarters) Anil Kumar Sinha said the step had been taken to prevent the criminals from selling the statues in other parts of the country and international market.

He said intelligence agencies had also been asked to keep a watch at airport, railway stations and interstate and international border for tracking the culprits.

Mr Sinha, however, said a police team had been constituted under the leadership of city Police Superintendent of Patna Vikash Vaibhav to investigate the case.

Meanwhile, Secretary of Art and Culture department Anjani Kumar Singh said the state government has decided to strengthen the security measures of the Patna museum to prevent the recurrence of such incident.
