Baalu accepts PLR based MoU between dock workers

Mumbai, Sep 27 (UNI) Union Minister for Shipping, Road Transport and Highways T R Baalu has accepted in principle the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) arrived at between the Indian Ports Association and five recognised federations of port and dock workers on productivity-linked-reward (PLR) in lieu of bonus.

A release issued by All India Port&Dock Workers Federation president S R Kulkarni stated the minister also assured the federations to get approval from the Cabinet to the MoU within a month.

As per the MoU, the workmen are entitled to receive 20 per cent bonus by way of PLR commencing from 2002-03 onwards. After getting the approval of the Cabinet, the arrears on account of PLR with effect from 2002-03 will be paid to the port&dock workers, Mr Kulkarni added.
