'AFSPA 1958' continues bagging international awards
Imphal, Sep 27 (UNI) The 77-minute documentary film 'AFSPA 1958' has continued bagging awards at various international film festivals.
In the 10th Ismailia International Film Festival(Egypt), the film had managed to grab three awards which was a record in that festival, sources said.
The film had won the Jury Award in the long documentary category and the Egyptian Cinema Critics Association's ACT (Appropriate Communication Techniques and Developments) Prize for the Best Film dealing with women problems.
The documentary dealing with some bitter realities in connection with the murder of Manorama by Asom Rifles had already bagged two International Awards in the Mumbai International Film Festival of Documetaries, Short and Animation Films organized by the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting this year and a National Award in the SIGNS 2006, a Festival of Documentaries and Short Films in Video organised by Federation of Film Societies of India, South West Region in Thiruvananthpuram presently.
'' I never expected so many awards as there was a tough competition. I was touched by the films from Arab World and the courage of its film makers,'' Movies Director Paban Kumar said.
Paban's latest film 'A CRY IN THE DARK' had its world premiere at the Real to Reel Section of the festival.
AFSPA was the first Manipuri film to have a world premiere abroad.
'' I thought nobody will be present for my screening as there were many Hollywood films but to my surprise the hall was very crowded,'' Pawan said.
