A maoist surrenders before police

Kakinada, Sep 27 (UNI) A CPI Maoist member today surrendered before the East Godavari District Superintendent of Police B Srinivasulu.

Officer on Special Duty V Satyanarayana told UNI that the maoist leader Kunjam Venkateswara Rao, hailing from Peda Ullampadu in East Godavari, surrendered due to pressure from his family members asking him to leave the organization.

Mr Satyanarayana said the Government had announced a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head, recently. Rao was involved in Koyyur and Sileru police station attacks, he added.
