750 students from 200 schools for South Zone skating tourney

Chennai, Sep 27 (UNI) More than 750 students from 200 schools are vying for honours in the CBSE South Zone Skating tournament, which was inaugurated here today.

Organised by the Velammal International School, teams from Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Pondicherry and Andaman and Nicobar Islands have arrived in the city for the tournament to be held in various age categories.

Events would be held in the 300m, 500m, 750m and 1000m, 1500m and 2000m categories for the Under 18, 10, 12, 14, and 16 age groups, at the Nehru Multipurpose Indoor Stadium.

The finals would be held on September 29.

The tournament was inaugruated by Mr M V V Prasada Rao, Joint Secretary, CBSE and Regional Officer Chennai in the presence of M V M Velmohan, Correspondent, Velammal International School, according to a press release.
