Woman kills daughter to appease goddess

Hardwar, Sep 26 (UNI) In a case of human sacrifice, a woman killed her daughter and offered the child's blood to appease the goddess in Jharbreda town.

The woman killed the two-year-old girl by repeatedly hitting her to the floor of a temple yesterday and then offerd the blood to the goddess, eye witnesses said.

On being informed, the police rushed to the scene and found the woman squatting on the body of the child.

Later, Palla, a brother-in-law of the woman, identified the woman as Pramila, the wife of Sushil, a resident of the village Jagdai in Saharanpur district.

Police said Palla told them that Pramila had been mentally deranged for the last few years. The police arrested the woman and admitted her to a civil hospital in Roorkee for treatment.

On the basis of preliminary investigations, the police ruled out the possibility of the role of any tantrik (exorcist) in the killing of the girl.
