VAT to be exempted on certain foodgrains

Belgaum, Sep 26: Karnataka has decided to extend value added tax (VAT) exemption on certain foodgrains till March 2007 Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa informed the Legislative Council today.

He said following demand from farmers and trade bodies in Gulbarga, Hubli and Belgaum districts the government has decided to exempt wheat, wheat products, paddy and rice till March 2007.
