Unruly scenes Mar K'taka assembly proceedings
Belgaum, Sep 26 (UNI) Books were used as missiles and hurled to and fro as unruly scenes marred the second day's special session of the State Assembly today, culminating in a walkout by the Opposition members following a remark by a member of the treasury bench against opposition leader N Dharam Singh.
Noisy scenes was sparked off when Mr Singh was addressing the house, condemning the behaviour of some members of the treasury bench, who were trying to shout down of the opposition members.
Mr Singh said the opposition had decided to extend its full co-operation to discuss the issues of drought, backwardness and other issues pertaining to Northern Karnataka. However the behaviour of the members of the treasury benches who were adamant on flouting the rules of the houses was not correct.
At this stage a remark made by BJP member Sidhu Saudi forced Mr Singh to abruptly his speech and stage a walk out which was also followed by the entire opposition parties.
While walking out, the congress members three books and other papers which were in their possession towards the Chair and One of the book thrown into the air fell on a staff of the speakers' secretariat.
Expressing regret for the incident and also behaviour of the ruling Janata Dal (S) and BJP members, Home Minister M P Prakash blamed the Opposition members also for their behaviour. Speaker Krishna, on a suggestion from Mr Prakash adjourned the house for a brief period.
