TN press photographers condemn attack on two lensmen

Chennai, Sep 26 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Press Photographers Association strongly condemned the assault on two lensmen by AIADMK workers here today.

The photographers, working for the national news agency UNI and leading Telugu daily 'Eanadu', were covering a demonstration by a section of AIADMK workers who were denied ticket to the local body elections, in front of party General Secretary J Jayalalithaa's Poes Garden residence.

The lensmen sustained injuries and their equipment was damaged.

Other photographers gathered there in support of their colleagues.

AIADMK party headquarters secretary K A Sengkottayan, pacified the angry photographers and assured them that action would be taken against those responsible for the incident and the cost of the damages to the equipment would be met by the party.

The attack was condemned by TNPPA President D Krishnan and General Secretary S R Raghunathan.
