Mumbai, Sept 26: A TADA court here today found five policemen guilty of involvement in the 1993 serial bomb blast case in the financial capital of the country and acquitted three for want of evidence.
This is the first judgment of its kind where the court has found policemen guilty of involvement in acts of terror. The court found them guilty under section 3(3) of now-repealed TADA and 120(B) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The accused, who were found guilty, are suspended police sub-inspector Vijay Patil, constables Ashok Muneshwar, P M Mahadik, Ramesh Mali and Srikrishna Pashilkar.
The court, however, exonerated constables Krishna Mukal, Krishna Pingle and Manohar More, as the prosecution failed to prove its case.
