Structural flaws in WTO must be rectified: Nath
Mumbai, Sept 26: Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Kamal Nath yesterday said the structural flaws in the World Trade Organisation (WTO) must be rectified.
Speaking at the 171st anniversary of the Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industries (BCCI), Mr Nath said India should be in a position to stand in the market globally.
He said there was a need for an all-inclusive growth of the country and added that about 650 million people were working in the agriculture sector.
He said the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the country's manufacturing sector is 17 per cent and the country plans to raise it to 34 per cent.
The Minister said one job in the manufacturing sector gives three jobs in the service sector.
''Employment-oriented growth should be spread more,'' he added.
Maharashtra Governor S M Krishna said the efforts should be made to increase the infrastructure of Mumbai - the megapolis will be the destiny of the country.
