Standing committee, joint action force in Mah to fight terror

Mumbai, Sep 26 (UNI) In a bid to further strengthen the security apparatus in the wake of series of bomb blasts in Mumbai and Malegaon, Maharashtra Government today decided to set up a state level standing committee to review the action taken against anti-terrorist activities and a joint action force to implement its recommendations.

A Government Resolution (GR), to this effect was issued by the Home Department today, following directives from the Central Government asking the states to upgrade their security systems and protect their respective state borders.

The standing committee would be headed by the Additional Chief Secretary (Home), while the Joint Action Force will be looked after by the Director General of Police (DGP). The committee will have 13 members and will meet once in every three months and the Force will have 12 members and will meet once in two months.
