Smart City will materialise soon: Vijayakumar
Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 26 (UNI) Kerala Law Minister M Vijayakumar told the state Assembly today that the proposed Smart City project at Kochi will be materialised soon.
However, the project would be realised only after safeguarding the interests of the state as well as the people, he said while replying to questions by Mr B Babu Prasad of the Congress and others.
Mr Vijayakumar, who replied for the Chief Minister, said discussions in this regard with the Dubai Internet City, the promoters of the project, was going on and except certain issues on providing land, other hurdles were solved.
He said within four months after assuming power, the LDF government had succeeded in bringing Rs 4,600 crore investment to the state through the KSIDC in IT Tourism, and Vallarpadam Trans-shipment Container Terminal project at Kochi.
The Minister said the government's policy was to create an investment-friendly atmosphere in the state and it had already conducted three Investors Meet (IM). In the recently-concluded IM in Kannur on September 23, nine MoUs were signed for Rs 1245 crore, he informed.
Industries Minister Elamaram Kareem said the government was proposing to conducted Local Investors Meet in all the districts and an exhibition-cum-convention centre would be set up at Kochi.
