Sensex moves up by 33 points in opening move

Mumbai, Sept 26: The BSE Sensex opened strong by 33 points at 12,206.79 points today as buying in index pivotals resumed after a gap of two trading sessions.

After opening firm, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensitive Index (Sensex) zoomed to 12,241.08 points and touched a low of 12,200.29 points.

Currently it is trading at 12,217.50 points which is 43 points more than the previous close.

The crude price too edged higher to above US dollar 61 per barrel mark, giving some resistance to auto and refinery scrips.

Amongst the sectoral indices on the BSE, except FMCG which is down by 0.40 per cent, all other indices are trading in the green. Gainers are led by IT up 0.77 per cent is followed by metals up 0.63 per cent and auto up 0.56 per cent.

Major gainers on the BSE-30 index are Satyam Computers, Reliance Industries, HDFC, Tata Steel, Bajaj Auto, Reliance Communications, TCS, Tata Motors, Infosys and L&T - all up from 0.64 to 1.41 per cent.

Besides, the losers are - Bharti Airtel, ITC, Gujarat Ambuja, ONGC, Cipla, ICICI, BHEL, HDFC Bank and Reliance Energy - all down from 0.01 to 1.07 per cent.

The timings at the BSE and the NSE has been revised from September 25, 2006 till October 09, 2006, due to heavy Solar outage, which will disrupt the VSAT services. Now the BSE will open at 0900 hrs till 0955 hrs and continue from 0955 hrs to close at 1615 hrs.
