Second phase of World Bank loan for tech education in offing
Bangalore, Sep 26 (UNI) The second phase of the World Bank loan for improving the faculty of engineering colleges in Karnataka will be taken up shortly, Karnataka Technical Education Director Mohammad Ali indicated today.
Talking to newspersons here, he said the current assistance of Rs 175 crore to 14 engineering colleges was to end in 2008 and it would be immediately followed by the second phase.
Mr Ali said that besides augmenting infrastructure in selected colleges, the assistance also helped to improve the teaching skills and enable students to meet the demands of the industry. He indicated that some polytechnics were also likely to be included in the next phase.
Karnataka was among eleven States where the World Bank technical education assistance programme was being implemented.
