Itanagar, Sept 26 (UNI) The Aruanchal Chamber of Commerce&Industries (ACCI) has urged the state government to make a few amendments on value added tax (VAT) for the greater interest of the consumer for the state's economic development.

In a letter written to commissioner of tax&excise, ACCI President Techi Lala and Secretary Tarak Nachung while appreciating the state government for its successful implementation of VAT in the state during the last one and a half years, it pointed out certain differences in the VAT rates with other neighbouring states.

The apex trading body of the state reasoned that the difference in VAT rates with neighbouring states was affecting the dealers and stockists in the state while procuring products from the companies.

''The non-uniform VAT rates also creates hindrance for the entry of other companies into the state, which is a great loss to the state's exchequer'', the ACCI pointed out and added that the consumers were also being deprived of getting the products from the market as dealers of the state had to pay excess VAT in comparison to other states and so they were not interested to sell products with no loss no profits.

The ACCI, meanwhile, welcomed the state government for signing Memoranda of Understandings (MoUs) with three power giants of the country for executing seven mega power projects of 15,000 mw capacity in the state.
